The Role of the Coach

Major league batting champions work with club-provided and personally hired hitting coaches.

PGA tournament winners have swing coaches.

These highly trained athletes at the top of their game use coaches.

Why?

Because whether you are an athletic champion, business owner, or an up-and-coming executive, over time we begin to develop different habits and begin to veer off course from what made us successful to begin with.

The development of these different habits affects our performance. Our mind goes to work on us. We began to suffer from anxiety, insomnia, depression or worse. Ultimately, the stress has a negative effect on our performance, our relationships and our happiness.

Business will have inevitable highs and lows. People issues create enormous distractions and stress. The pressure to continue to deliver results in the face of this adversity leads to mental fatigue which leads to our decision-making ability becoming compromised.

In a 2016 study, 92% of the more than 13,000 venture capitalists surveyed by the National Bureau of Economic Research identifies people issues within the management team as the most important factor in business failures.

Founders and business owners hold sufficient influence over their companies’ strategic and creative trajectories. Consequently, when you struggle silently, the impact has an exponential impact on the business and its people.

Working with a coach affords you the opportunity to open up, to share your concerns and confront your stress and anxiety. It provides you with the opportunity to brainstorm with a fellow professional whose goal is not to please you, but to help you elevate your business and your life to the next level.

The right coach will know when to push back and when to help you correct course.

Three Pillars of a Successful Exit Plan

January 12, 2021 By //  by Christina LoBiondo

Three Pillars of a Successful Exit Plan     The decision to sell your business or take on an outside investor is not a singular event, but an ongoing strategic process defined as Exit Planning.  Most business owners avoid preparing an exit plan because they do not have a clear understanding of the process, or …

Do I really need an Exit Plan?

July 27, 2020 By //  by Joe Gitto

Do I really need an Exit Plan?   “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”. This quote has been widely attributed to Benjamin Franklin and has endured for hundreds of years. I would like to add a third certainty to this phrase; “at some point you WILL exit …
